In the second week in November 2019, the Executive Students of Rome Business School Nigeria had a one-week fantastic time in Kigali, the capital city of Rwanda. As a tradition of the school towards creating an avenue to the student on ample opportunities for international exposure, to learn a different culture, meet new people, networking for business, and learn ways and methodology of doing business in line with foreign government policy, ideology, and beliefs.
The period of the study tour spent was worth it, the tour was insightful and impactful in all ramifications, the student visited several reputable and remarkable places during the period. They had different exciting and emotional experiences during the tour.
Their first place of visits is a partnering manufacturing organization headquartered in the heart of Kigali, “Inyange Industries Limited” Inyange industries is engaged in the business of producing and selling a wide variety of fruit products, including fruit juice concentrates, fruit juice drinks & dairy-related products, RBSN executive student had the opportunity to learn about the production line and processes, raw material processing involved in the production of fruit and dairy-related products, as well as their organizational structure, policies, marketing challenges, strategies, and the firm global business strategies.
The student also visited the assembling plant of Volkswagen in Kigali, Rwanda under the auspices of CFAO Motors (the exclusive distributor of the Volkswagen automobile brand in Rwanda) the head of the plants welcome all participants present, ushered staff and student of Rome Business School Nigeria through all accessible and non-hazardous within the plant, different head of the assembling units came on board to give an in-depth explanation on various processes.
Mount Kenya University, Kigali Campus a partnering University of Rome Business School Nigeria gave the student warm receptions, there was a facility tour of the university, study tour modules were taken by a professors of the institution, students were loaded with a lot of insightful and research findings information that will help all of them in their daily business and life’s endeavors.
University of hospitality, Kigali was also visited; the University Vice-Chancellor toured the school facilities with the student. Among many other monumental places visited is Kigali Convention Centre and were able to tour the area which is composed of four major components; a 5-Star Hotel, Information Technology Park, Conference Centre, and Museum.
The students had a stop at the Genocide Memorial which has the remains of about 250,000 persons who lost their lives in 1994 during the genocide outbreak. They were also shown pictures of the incident which was sympathetic. They also seized the opportunity to stop by the poor people’s settlement, where they saw how the people were fending for themselves through their businesses and farms which were set up for them by the government.
Most importantly, the purpose of the study tour was accomplished, the aim was achieved, students and staff had a good time, exposed to the new ways of doing things, acquired more knowledge, international exposure, and many more.
This is a continuous activity by the school, aside from Kigali, year on year, RBSN visits different countries around the world mainly to give our student the required exposure, training, networking opportunities, new technology exposure, and ability to tap in into various value chains, develops and build business ideas, by preparing them for the future challenge in leadership. To wrap it up, it was an interesting and emotional experience for all participants.
