As a business executive student of Rome Business School, I am undergoing a three months’ in-company internship program at an Interior Design Company located in Lagos, Nigeria. This is an industry I am already familiar with. So, it’s not a totally new experience for me.

However, one of the new things here is that I have been assigned a supervisor to whom I report back, at the end of each week with questions on the responsibilities I have been given as an intern. Another new thing is that my work schedule in terms of punctuality is now being measured and recorded. I have to be at work by 8am on the agreed days I’m supposed to show up as an intern; ready to have positive work interactions with the sales and marketing team at all times.

At the start of each week, I am sent to a new department where I am expected to get involved in the daily activities; to further enhance my knowledge, profitability and experience. Most times, I take notes, carry out other errands as given to me by my supervisor. Particular attention is given to Marketing and Sales Department of the company – where I deal with daily Marketing operations.

Thanks to the classes I have already taken at RBS (Rome Business School), which have been helping me to carry out these tasks effectively and commendably.

The benefits of this internship is not limited to my learning of new hands-on skills in production, project management, social media management and other forms of digital marketing.
