Fostering Educational Excellence in Nigeria: Rome Business School Nigeria Meets with Lagos State Leadership

Rome Business School Nigeria Pays Courtesy Visit to Lagos State Government — A Strategic Move to Empower Professionals Across the State

In a remarkable step towards fostering academic excellence and professional development in Lagos State, the leadership of Rome Business School Nigeria recently paid a high-level courtesy visit to the Executive Governor of Lagos State, His Excellency, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu. This significant engagement signals a forward-thinking collaboration between the Lagos State Government and one of the world’s fastest-growing institutions in postgraduate and executive education.

A Visionary Encounter Led by Global Academic Leaders

The delegation from Rome Business School was led by Prof. Antonio Ragusa (PhD, MBA, LLM), Dean and Founder of Rome Business School, whose vision has propelled the school to global relevance. He was joined by Mr. Asunmo Olakunle Olayide, General Manager of Rome Business School Nigeria, and Mr. Sam Igwe Okoh, Head of Academics.

Their purpose? To propose a strategic partnership with the Lagos State Government aimed at expanding access to premium-quality postgraduate education and executive training for Lagos residents, especially public sector professionals.

Key Pillars of the Proposal

The visit wasn’t just ceremonial; it carried a bold agenda centered on three major initiatives designed to transform the public sector and open doors of opportunity for thousands across Lagos State:

1. Tailored Executive Education for Government Officials
Customized programs to enhance the leadership, strategic planning,
and innovation capabilities of selected officials across critical sectors within the Lagos State public service.

2. MBA Scholarships for Outstanding State Staff
Rome Business School proposed merit-based scholarships for top-performing employees across key departments, helping to create a knowledge-driven and future-ready public workforce.

3. Joint Scholarship Scheme for 200–250 Lagos Residents
In an unprecedented move, the school proposed a jointly funded scholarship initiative to sponsor 200–250 Lagos residents, beginning with the October 2025 intake. The estimated value of this initiative exceeds ₦500 million, directly contributing to the State Government’s mission of inclusive growth, economic empowerment, and human capital advancement.

Aligning with Lagos State’s Vision for Human Capital Development

This partnership proposal is perfectly aligned with Lagos State’s strategic blueprint for inclusive education and sustainable development. It presents a golden opportunity for upskilling public servants, nurturing ethical and transformational leaders, and providing everyday Lagosians with access to world-class education that will elevate their careers and contributions to society.

A Grateful Acknowledgment of Government Stakeholders

Rome Business School Nigeria extended heartfelt appreciation to the distinguished dignitaries who graced the meeting and expressed support for the partnership:

    • Hon. Tolani Sule, Honourable Commissioner for Tertiary Education

    • Mrs. Bukola Odoe, Special Adviser, Legal and Public-Private Partnerships (PPP)

    • Mr. Kasali Adeniran Waheed, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Tertiary Education

By bridging the gap between global academic excellence and local human capital development, this collaboration is poised to set a new standard for public-private partnerships in education.
