Clem Ugorji, Founder/Lead Advisor, Circularium Africa Advisory

Clem is a business leader, strategic communications professional and Africa regional expert on public policy, the circular economy and multisector partnerships. He has about 30 years of management, senior leadership and Board level experience in the corporate sector spanning executive support, strategy, corporate and marketing communications, government and stakeholder relations and social impact in the Banking, ICT and FMCG industries.

Clem is the Founder and Lead Advisor at Circularium Africa Advisory, a growing network of Africa-focused public policy and sustainability consultants working with governments, corporates and development partners to advance regional integration and Green Growth policies. He is a Consultant and Advisor to the World Economic Forum’s Global Plastic Action Partnership (GPAP) on the National Plastic Action Partnerships (NPAP) in Nigeria and Ghana.

A 14-year veteran of The Coca-Cola Company, Clem retired recently as Vice President for Public Affairs, Communications and Sustainability (West Africa), a position he held from 2016 to 2021. In this role, he was a member of the Regional Leadership Team and led strategies for social impact, government and stakeholder relations, corporate partnerships, public policy and regulatory engagements across 33 markets in West and Mid Africa and the Indian Ocean Islands.

Clem has worked extensively over the last 10 years galvanizing industry and multistakeholder action on the circular economy for plastics. Among other roles, he was the founder and pioneer coordinator of the Food & Beverage Recycling Alliance (FBRA Nigeria); a founding member and coordinator of the Africa Plastics Recycling Alliance (APRA); a founding director of Nigeria’s Private Sector Advisory Group on the SDGs (PSAG); an Associate Director of the American Business Council (Nigeria); and a member of the Technical Committee of the Ghana National Plastics Action Partnership (NPAP). He currently serves a member of the Nigerian Circular Economy Working Group (NCEWG) and supports the coordination of the Multistakeholder Regional Workstream on Circular Plastics Economy at the World Economic Forum (WEF) Regional Action Group for Africa.
