RBSN International Study Tour in Rome, Italy

A Transformative Global Learning Experience for RBSN Students

From December 1st to 5th, 2025, students of Rome Business School Nigeria embarked on an international study tour designed to expand their worldview, deepen their understanding of global business environments, and immerse them in the culture and academic excellence of Rome.

Across four intensive and inspiring days, participants engaged with leading faculty, explored historical landmarks, and interacted with high-level institutions, strengthening their global mindset and professional readiness.

Below is a detailed journey from Day 1 to the final day, capturing learning outcomes, cultural immersion, and the overall impact of this transformative experience.

Day 1: Arrival, Orientation & Cultural Immersion

The tour began with an official welcome session hosted by the Dean of Rome Business School. This opening interaction set the tone for a week built on global learning, cross-cultural engagement, and exposure to international academic standards.

Students were then taken on a guided tour of Rome’s most iconic historical site, the Colosseum. Standing inside one of the world’s greatest symbols of leadership, power, and civilisation, participants gained an enriching perspective on how history shapes modern society, governance, and organizational behavior.

The evening ended with a Welcome Aperitivo at Baja, a relaxed networking event that allowed students to interact with international peers, forge new connections, and prepare mentally for the academic and professional journey ahead.

Impact of Day 1:

  • Strengthened global orientation
  • First-hand cultural immersion
  • Early connections with international colleagues
  • Reflection on leadership through history

Day 2: Academic Deep Dive into Global Strategy & International Business

Day 2 offered students intensive academic exposure delivered by distinguished faculty members at Rome Business School.

The morning session introduced participants to Nation Branding, taught by Prof. Valerio Mancini. Through real-world case studies, students explored how countries shape their global identity, affecting tourism, foreign policy, investment, and international perception.

After a group lunch at GRIF, conversations continued around strategy, culture, and global competitiveness.

The afternoon session was dedicated to International Business, led by Prof. Alberto Matrone. Students examined core frameworks for understanding global markets, foreign expansion, cross-border operations, and the challenges of doing business in a fast-changing world.

Impact of Day 2:

  • Mastery of nation branding fundamentals
  • Better understanding of global market behaviour
  • Exposure to international business dynamics
  • Enhanced strategic thinking for cross-border contexts

Day 3: Export Management Training & Visit to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

Day 3 brought the students closer to the world of international trade and diplomacy.

The morning began with a practical module on Export Management, again facilitated by Prof. Mancini. Students learned market entry strategies, supply chain fundamentals, and how businesses identify and leverage international opportunities.

After another refreshing lunch at GRIF, the cohort proceeded to one of the most impactful activities of the tour, a corporate visit to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

This high-level engagement exposed students to:

  • how trade policies are developed,
  • how nations collaborate for economic growth,
  • and the critical role diplomacy plays in global business.

It bridged the gap between classroom theory and global governance, helping students appreciate business from a policy and institutional perspective.

Impact of Day 3:

  • Practical understanding of export and trade operations
  • Exposure to government–business relationships
  • Insight into diplomatic and policy frameworks
  • Expanded professional network through institutional engagement

Day 4: Comparative Business Training & Visit to Legacoop

Day 4 combined structured learning with meaningful corporate exposure.

The morning session, led by Prof. Matrone, focused on Italian and Nigerian Business Cases. Students compared business models across both economies, studied local vs. international market structures, and explored how companies adapt strategies across borders.

After lunch at GRIF, the group visited Legacoop, one of Italy’s most influential cooperative organisations. Here, students observed first-hand how cooperative business systems operate, the values that drive them, and their contribution to community welfare and sustainable economic development.

The rest of the day allowed students personal time to explore Rome, its art, architecture, lifestyle, and historical charm while balancing academic work with cultural enrichment.

Impact of Day 4:

  • Deeper understanding of comparative business ecosystems
  • Exposure to sustainable and cooperative business models
  • Appreciation of social enterprise dynamics
  • Cultural immersion to support global-thinking development

Day 5: Final Sessions, Project Work & Certification

The final day brought together everything students had learned throughout the week.

Participants engaged in project development and presentations, summarising key insights gained from academic sessions, industry visits, and cultural experiences. This final activity encouraged critical thinking and allowed students to apply their knowledge in real-world scenarios.

The study tour concluded with the presentation of the Certificate of Participation, officially issued by Rome Business School. This moment marked not just the end of the program, but also the beginning of a new phase of personal and professional growth for every participant.

Impact of Day 5:

  • Consolidation of academic and practical learning
  • Hands-on project application
  • Strengthened presentation and analytical skills
  • Official recognition of their global learning achievement

Conclusion: A Life-Changing Global Experience

The 2025 Rome International Study Tour not only enriched students academically but also shaped their worldview, strengthened their professional skills, and offered a rare opportunity to engage directly with global institutions.

From classroom learning to historical exploration and corporate visits, the experience delivered a holistic blend of education, culture, leadership development, and international exposure.
