The best executive learning experiences often happen when professionals step outside the classroom and into the environments where business decisions are actually made.
Following their visit to Sunset Villa and Aisle Crescendo, Rome Business School Nigeria Executive Master’s students continued their company visit journey with stops at Prince Ebeano Supermarket on Admiralty Way and Glover Pearl in Ikoyi.
The experience gave students a broader perspective on business operations, environmental management, sustainability and the practical decisions that shape organisations and infrastructure.
Rather than treating sustainability as an isolated academic concept, the visit allowed students to explore how environmental considerations can become part of real operational processes.
The Second Stage: Prince Ebeano Supermarket, Admiralty
After visiting the development sites at Sunset Villa and Aisle Crescendo, the students proceeded to Prince Ebeano Supermarket, Admiralty.
Here, the learning experience shifted from construction and property development towards environmental management and sustainable operations.
One of the key areas explored during the visit was wastewater treatment and recycling.
For businesses and organisations operating in modern environments, the management of resources and waste is increasingly connected to operational efficiency, environmental responsibility and long-term sustainability.
The students had the opportunity to see how wastewater treatment and recycling can be approached in a practical business setting.
This provided an important opportunity to connect classroom discussions around sustainability with processes taking place within an operating organisation.
Understanding Sustainability as a Business Consideration
Sustainability is often discussed in terms of broad environmental objectives.
However, for business leaders, the more practical question is how sustainability can be incorporated into everyday operations.
- What happens to resources after they have been used?
- How can organisations manage waste responsibly?
- What infrastructure is required to support sustainable operations?
- How can environmental solutions contribute to more efficient business practices?
The Prince Ebeano visit allowed students to consider these questions from a practical perspective.
Seeing wastewater treatment and recycling processes firsthand helped demonstrate that sustainability can involve concrete operational decisions rather than remaining simply a theoretical business principle.
Continuing to Glover Pearl, Ikoyi
The company visit then continued to its final site at Glover Pearl in Ikoyi.
This final stage completed the students’ journey across different business and development environments.
From construction and property development at Sunset Villa and Aisle Crescendo, through environmental management and wastewater treatment at Prince Ebeano Supermarket, the students’ experience provided a wider view of how different professional disciplines contribute to the development and operation of modern business environments.
The movement between the sites was itself an important part of the learning experience.
It allowed students to see that business challenges rarely exist within one discipline.
A project can involve construction, operations, engineering, finance, leadership, quality control, sustainability and stakeholder management at different stages.
For executive professionals, understanding these connections is an important part of developing a broader business perspective.
Learning from Professionals on the Ground
Throughout the experience, students also had opportunities to engage with professionals working directly in the industry.
Among those who shared their expertise were Engr. Ayo Fasholu, Operations Manager; Engr. Fadipe Oladele, Managing Director; and Engr. Gbolahan Adenuga, Quantity Control Officer.
Their interactions with students added a practical dimension to the visit, allowing participants to hear directly from professionals involved in managing projects and operations.
These conversations gave students an opportunity to ask questions, explore industry realities and better understand the decisions that professionals make beyond the classroom.
Connecting Sustainability, Operations and Leadership
One of the major lessons from the visit was the relationship between sustainability and business operations.
Environmental solutions do not operate separately from business.
They require planning, investment, technical expertise, operational management and leadership.
For executive professionals, this creates an opportunity to think about sustainability not only as an environmental issue, but also as a strategic and operational consideration.
The students’ journey from Sunset Villa to Aisle Crescendo, then Prince Ebeano Supermarket and finally Glover Pearl brought together several different dimensions of modern business.
It demonstrated how professionals from different disciplines can contribute to the successful delivery and management of projects, infrastructure and organisations.
Why Experiential Learning Matters
A company visit offers something that a traditional classroom environment cannot fully replicate: direct exposure to the context in which business decisions take place.
Students can discuss sustainability in class.
They can study operations management.
They can analyse construction projects.
They can learn about leadership and strategic decision-making.
But experiencing these concepts in real environments creates another level of understanding.
It encourages students to ask better questions, connect different areas of knowledge and consider how theoretical frameworks can be adapted to real-world situations.
That is the value of experiential learning.
More Than a Company Visit
The journey across these sites was more than a series of stops.
It was an opportunity for Rome Business School Nigeria Executive Master’s students to observe how business, infrastructure, sustainability and professional expertise intersect in real-world environments.
From the construction and development insights gained at Sunset Villa and Aisle Crescendo, to the exploration of wastewater treatment and recycling at Prince Ebeano Supermarket, and the final stop at Glover Pearl in Ikoyi, the experience provided students with multiple perspectives on how organisations and projects operate.
Ultimately, executive education is about preparing professionals to think beyond individual concepts and understand how those concepts work together.
Because the most meaningful learning happens when knowledge meets experience.
