Lagos State Government partners with Rome Business School Nigeria to train civil servants

In every great city, the strength of governance is measured not just by policies, but by the vision and capacity of its leaders. For Lagos — Africa’s commercial heartbeat — leadership excellence is not optional; it is essential. That is why the Lagos State Government, in partnership with Rome Business School Nigeria, convened a two-day leadership training designed to empower its top executives and civil servants with the tools to navigate today’s challenges and shape tomorrow’s opportunities.

This was more than a training session. It was a deliberate investment in people — in the men and women who carry the responsibility of delivering quality governance to over 20 million Lagosians.

Day One: Building the Leadership Mindset

The first day opened with an air of optimism and resolve. As participants gathered, conversations quickly moved beyond pleasantries into purposeful dialogue. The facilitators, bringing global perspectives, anchored the sessions around strategic leadership and policy management.

Discussions focused on leading with clarity in uncertain times, transforming challenges into opportunities, and making decisions that directly impact lives at scale. By the end of the day, the training had evolved into a collaborative exchange where knowledge met vision, and personal growth connected with collective responsibility.

Day Two: Turning Insight into Action

The second day was about putting ideas into motion. Through group activities, case studies, and practical exercises, participants explored succession planning, team development, and policy innovation. Each session emphasized not just what leaders should know, but how they could immediately apply these lessons within their ministries and agencies.

The conversations deepened around sustainability: how reforms can outlast individuals and how institutional structures can continue serving citizens effectively for generations to come.

The program concluded with a certification ceremony. But for participants, these certificates were more than acknowledgments — they symbolized a renewed commitment to service, excellence, and the people of Lagos.

Why This Training Matters

This leadership initiative stands as a bold statement of intent. By partnering with Rome Business School Nigeria, the Lagos State Government is affirming that its most valuable asset is its people. Each participant left with:

  • Sharper strategic thinking for policy design and execution
  • Practical tools for leading and inspiring teams
  • Stronger networks across ministries for collaboration
  • A renewed vision for delivering world-class service to citizens

A Journey That Continues

Leadership is not a destination but a journey. This training marked not an end, but a new beginning — one that challenges Lagos State’s leaders to return to their offices with fresh ideas, stronger resolve, and a collective determination to transform governance.

At Rome Business School Nigeria, we are proud to walk this path with them — shaping leaders who will not only serve Lagos today, but also leave a lasting legacy for tomorrow.
