A Cardiovascular Health Physician and Executive Director, Nigerian Heart Foundation; Past Vice – President World Heart Federation and Past President, African Epidemiological Association; Past President, African Heart Network and was a member of the Choices International Foundation Executive Council. He serves on the Governing Council of NCD Alliance Network, Africa and Advisor, African Heart Network. He served as Principal Investigator (Nigeria) on several National/International Projects He is a member of the Technical Report Committee of the Nigerian Report Card on Physical Activity for Children and Youths. Dr. Akinroye served on the Governing Board of Federal Medical Centre, Abeokuta and currently, Chairman, Osun State Hospitals Management Board.
He published a book on Health of Executives in Ngeria and chapters in other Book publications; and many Publications in Peer-review Journals on Hypertension, Physical Activity, Tobacco and Non-Communicable Diseases; in addition to many Conference papers. He was the Honorary Consul, Honorary Consulate of Finland, Lagos and honoured in December 2019 by the President of Finland as a Knight First Class of the Order of the Lion of Finland and awarded in 2023 as Member,Sigma Xi, The Scientific Research Honor Society
